Software Design Engineer Tester Level 2
POSITION OVERVIEW
This role holder ensures that application solutions quality is assured before launch to the market. The incumbent shall work closely with the assigned Microsoft contact person in running test scenarios and corrective measures ensuring apps deployed have passed optimum performance scores. He or she must be a software guru undertaking various testing techniques to the process of executing a program or application with the intent of finding software bugs (errors or other defects). To succeed in this role, the incumbent must a quick thinker to translate of partner requirements, achiever, techy whizz and aggressive driver of deadlines for positive relationship across board immediately.
Required Skills & Experience:
Academic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information System, Electrical Engineering or related fields.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in a developer or test role.
Understanding of the bug workflow in Microsoft ideal but not required
Ability to communicate effectively in writing when providing status on the work completed.
Familiarity with Windows 10 and deployment technologies (a plus).
Familiarity with Feedback Hub app.
In-depth knowledge of Windows Operating Systems
Proficiency in MS Office and SQL Queries
Any combination of certifications in Testing Tools, ISTQB is preferred.
Knowledge of at least one programming language and /or Testing Tools, Statistical tools
Responsibilities:
Provide manual validation for Deployment release scenarios (Clean Installs, Feature Updates, Quality Updates, Server Upgrades, Optional Features, Language Pack installs, Recovery).
Provide manual validation of features across different rings (canary, selfhost) to assist with flight promotion and release decisions.
Monitor Gates results and provide first level triage, enter bugs in VSO and assign issues to proper feature teams.
Provide repros for issues found from manual validations to assist with root cause analysis.
Create and send regular reports with status on the validation results, bugs opened, and open issues.
