Red(P) Annual Student Conference at Nairobi Game Development Center
December 9th 2024, marked a milestone with the incredible support of the Nairobi Game Development Center and Techno Brain Group as we successfully hosted the 2nd Annual Students’ Conference by red(P).
This event has emerged as a powerful source of opportunity and inspiration, uplifting students from diverse and underserved communities.
What makes this gathering so special? It’s the stories, journeys, and moments that resonate far beyond the day itself.
Starting their journey as early as the day before, some participants traveled from Amboseli in Kajiado County, spending the night in Kimana, while others departed from Embu County at the break of dawn. Their enthusiasm and determination, undeterred by the early hours, highlight the profound impact of this event. So, what made this year truly unforgettable? Let’s dive in:
Inspiration: A powerful keynote by Peter Kitavi, Executive Director of Kilimani Project Foundation, shared his journey of turning failure into excellence through mindset transformation. His words encouraged students to believe in their limitless potential.
Exposure: The NGDC team illuminated pathways into gaming careers, supplemented by valuable advice from educators, guardians, and software engineering professionals.
Interaction: Students engaged in meaningful networking with peers and program alumni, fostering connections and community.
Emerging Tech: A lively debate on "Will AI take over the world?" sparked thought-provoking discussions about the evolving role of AI in future careers.
Surprises: Personalized motivational cards crafted by Microsoft teams, exciting prizes for top achievers, and delightful giveaways added a touch of magic to the day.
The event was a powerful reminder of what students can achieve when they are provided with the right platforms and opportunities. It was a day of growth, discovery, and connection—a testament to the boundless potential of our youth.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Nairobi Game Development Center, Techno Brain Group, Manoj Shanker, Glaucia Faria Young, Debasish Mukhopadhyay, the incredible teams at Microsoft who created the inspirational cards, and all the volunteers who brought this vision to life.
