Techno Brain Unveils First Microsoft Software Testing Centre in Africa

Nairobi, Kenya – 2 May 2018: Techno Brain has partnered with Microsoft Corporation to launch the first ever testing and quality assurance center in Africa. The Center, stationed in Nairobi, Kenya, is only the fourth of such outsourced centres for Microsoft after China, Poland and India.

Speaking during the official opening of the testing center, Manoj Shanker, CEO, Techno Brain, said, “Kenya in particular has a rich pool of skilled human resources. This Testing Center is yet another great testament of our 20-year journey, that we’re truly committed to empowering lives through education and innovation. This is our long-term vision, to build a world class company that addresses Africa’s unique socio-economic challenges.”

On his part, Microsoft Director of Software Engineering, Bambo Sofola outlined the importance of the testing center saying, “This testing center will help to profile Kenya as a leading regional hub of emerging technologies and innovation and provide employment opportunities for young people. We have customers, partners and employees here in Kenya, a country of great promise and one that could leapfrog others by getting the right infrastructure and skills in place.”

Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto underscored the importance of the testing centre saying, “This is a big vote of confidence for Kenya. I salute Techno Brain for leading the way in impact sourcing practices that optimally equip high-potential youths for a demanding and rewarding future. I want to appreciate Microsoft for choosing Kenya and Techno Brain for providing the platform and capacity to make this incredible project a reality.” He further emphasised the role of technology as an enabler of development. ”The Big 4 is a tech agenda, the Big 4 is about innovation,” he added.

Joseph Mucheru, the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Information, Communication Technology underscored the role of policy and an enabling business environment in attracting international partners like Microsoft.

The global collaboration will see Windows Development Group (WDG) engineering team from USA working collaboratively with Techno Brain Kenya engineers to build and operate a highly specialized and secured test environment in Nairobi as an extension to Microsoft Redmond Windows development engineering centre.

The partnership places Kenya as a leading global player in the technology services space and creates an avenue for attracting other technology giants to Kenya. This initiative further, has the potential of creating 1000 jobs opportunities for the Kenyan youth and position Kenya as a preferred choice for highly skilled engineering, quality assurance and testing work in Africa.
