Head of Operations
The Head of Operations will be responsible for managing teams, ensuring project execution within budgets and timelines, reporting project health and profitability to the management, advising on risks and mitigation strategies, and maintaining client relationships at the highest levels.
Required Skills & Experience:
Proven experience of at least 8 years of proven and verifiable experience in heading a delivery organization within the IT services industry.
Proven customer management and relationship skills are essential, including experience engaging with clients at CXO levels.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal teams, clients, and senior management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations and make strategic decisions.
Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of leading teams to achieve successful outcomes.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, MBA or equivalent is a plus. Certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) and Prince 2 are required.
Team Management: Direct and oversee the performance of various teams within the organization, ensuring they are aligned with company goals and objectives. Provide leadership and guidance to promote a positive and productive work environment.
Project Execution: Ensure that all projects are executed efficiently within established budgets and timelines. Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and take corrective actions as necessary to ensure successful project delivery.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports to the management on the financial health and profitability of projects. Provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks to project delivery and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Work closely with project teams to implement risk management plans and ensure their effectiveness.
Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, including engagement at CXO levels. Understand client needs and expectations and ensure that the organization delivers high-quality services that meet or exceed client requirements.
Experience in Public Sector Projects: Preference for candidates with experience in managing and delivering large turnkey projects in the public sector, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. This includes an understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of public sector projects in the region.
Internal Oversight: Oversee the internal IT team, Project Management Office (PMO), and internal compliance functions. Ensure that these internal departments are operating efficiently and effectively to support the overall business objectives.
