Techno Brain Foundation & Ministry of Labour launch the Malawi Digital Empowerment Scholarship Programme
25 ICT Graduates to benefit from Malawi Digital Empowerment Scholarship Programme through Techno Brain Foundation & Ministry of Labour
Lilongwe, Malawi, August, 2017: In line with the country’s vision of achieving ICT led growth and development by increased implementation and use of Information Technology (IT), Techno Brain Foundation – a Non-Profit organization and Ministry of Labour Malawi have created the Malawi Digital Empowerment Scholarship Programme (MDESP) to support 25 ICT Diploma/graduate youth-men and women in acquiring world class employment skills. The programme was launched by Nicholas Dausi.
This fully funded, job oriented, industry program is designed for ICT graduates and will be offering training, mentoring, projects & certifications in a number of ICT disciplines. It will focus on developing practical skills in leadership and management to enhance a candidates’ attractiveness to employers.
“This Power-packed programme is designed to build a national skill building platform across a span of 6 months, targeting 25 ICT Diploma/graduates who are trained and mentored on the latest ICT skills that would meet the increasing demand of ICT skills for improved service delivery across industries and government organizations, impacting job creation & the GDP of Malawi. This initiative is a part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, to give back to the country wherein we have done so much of work,” says Techno Brain Foundation Director, Mr. Manoj Shanker.
Speaking during the programme launch, the Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Nicholas Dausi, called on Malawian youths to embrace the Information Communications Technology (ICT) industry as it is a key indicator to the advancement and development of a country.
“We would want to have more qualified youth in ICT so that they are placed in various ministries, departments and private sector in order for Malawi to be at a par with any other country in as far as ICT is concerned,” said Dausi.
The programme is aimed to transform not only how ICT is managed in the industry and the government but also have a full impact in the entire economy in the long term, improve service delivery through effective use of ICT in organizations, create a pipeline of youths with desirable value and core competencies that will facilitate rapid economic and social change, increase youth employment and increase the GDP and have economic impact.
Selected students will commence the curriculum from October 2017.
